Since 1923, the Junior League of Reading (JLR) has been acting as a catalyst for lasting community change in the Greater Reading Area. Now in our 102nd year, we continue our mission to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. This year, we’re embracing The Magic Within — a reminder that lasting change begins with the strength, vision, and spirit each of us brings to the table.
Through our annual Patron Campaign, friends of the League are invited to help sustain this mission through charitable giving that directly supports our programs and partnerships. Your support strengthens the work of our members, who are driven to grow as leaders and collaborate to build a thriving, more empowered Berks County. Guided by training and purpose, we’re able to create, improve, and expand the resources and opportunities available for youth — helping them grow into confident leaders and stewards of their own futures.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join a global moment of generosity that reminds us what’s possible when we come together for good. It’s a day that celebrates unity, compassion, and purpose — the same values at the heart of our Patron Campaign. When you give, you’re not just making a donation — you’re helping to spark the kind of lasting change that grows when women and youth are encouraged to shine. We’ll be sharing stories and highlights on social media in the days leading up to Giving Tuesday on December 2 — we’d love for you to follow along!
Your contribution directly fuels our mission and supports meaningful local initiatives, including:
- Young Women’s Summit, a leadership program for 6th–8th grade girls that builds confidence, connection, and purpose through interactive lessons, guided discussions, and service learning.
- Lean In Girls, now expanding to a new space and neighborhood, helping girls lead boldly and challenge limiting messages.
- Thanksgiving at Olivet Boys & Girls Club, where members host a joyful holiday celebration for local youth and their families.
- Let’s Talk, Period., a partnership with Reading Hospital that offers inclusive, judgment-free education on puberty and menstruation for girls and their guardians.
- Touch-A-Truck, our beloved community event that brings families together for hands-on learning and connection with local heroes and helpers.
- Hands-on service and partnerships with organizations like Girls on the Run, Mary’s Shelter, VOiCEup Berks, and Opportunity House.
Thanks to your commitment, the Junior League of Reading continues to grow our impact — one program, one partnership, and one empowered young leader at a time.
