Lean in Girls

Lean In Girls is a leadership program that helps girls see themselves as leaders in a world that often tells them they’re not.

Lean In Girls is a free, multi-session curriculum designed for ages 11 to 15. The curriculum teaches girls to embrace their leadership superpowers and reject limiting stereotypes. Girls who participate in the program report they discover more about themselves, learn there are lots of ways to lead, feel more confident in their abilities, and build strong connections with each other.

Oakbrook Homes Center for Community Services

Oakbrook is one of Reading’s largest public housing communities, home to more than 1,500 residents — many of whom are youth and families navigating financial challenges and limited access to enrichment opportunities. The Oakbrook Homes Center for Community Services, operated by the Reading Housing Authority, serves as a hub for education, workforce development, and youth programs designed to help residents thrive.

Hosting Lean In Girls at Oakbrook allows us to meet young women where they are — right in their own neighborhood — and remove barriers to participation like transportation and cost. It also helps us build trusted relationships within a community that reflects the heart of our mission: empowering youth, expanding access to leadership development, and creating meaningful pathways for local girls to see themselves as capable, confident, and valued leaders.

By being present in Oakbrook, we’re not just delivering a program — we’re showing up for a community that represents both the need and the potential that our League was built to serve.
