Thank you for considering a donation to The Junior League of Reading!

This Giving Tuesday, we at the Junior League of Reading, PA, Inc. seek your support as a Patron as we celebrate our 100th year serving our community. We are a diverse organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact. Membership in the League provides the opportunity to strengthen our leadership skills and develop our abilities to help us as we serve our community. The volunteers of the Junior League of Reading are focused on Youth Empowerment by creating, improving, and expanding the resources and opportunities available for their growth, development and overall welfare, so they can become stewards of leadership in their communities. We believe that through empowering youth, we can act as catalysts for lasting change.

These past couple of years have been challenging for everyone, including nonprofits. However, through the efforts of our dedicated membership last year, we were immensely proud to host our signature programs:

Thanksgiving Celebration at Olivet Club: This annual party includes activities for kids of all ages, a magic show, and a delicious meal to enjoy together with the families of Olivet and our members.

Young Women’s Summit: This two-weekend seminar is attended by a diverse group of middle school aged girls in Reading area school districts. We teach empowerment via leadership, self-esteem, emotional identification, relationship building, and supporting the community through service projects. The summit is fully free to attend and curated and facilitated entirely by our volunteers.

Educational Event Focused on Menstruation Equality: More information coming soon.

Touch-a-Truck: This community event offers opportunities for children to climb inside trucks and vehicles of all kinds while interacting with community helpers and local businesspeople who lend their support. Additional vendors and activities for the whole family always offer a fun day!

In 2023-2024, plans are underway to expand these impactful programs to ensure they meet today’s needs. Furthermore, JLR will continue to develop opportunities for leadership training to our members with a special emphasis on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, as we incorporate this knowledge for continued improvement in recruitment and member retention, while ensuring our programming content remains current. We are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations, and communities.

Please consider becoming a Patron to enable JLR to continue this important work in our community. For more information, please contact me at president@jlreading.org. I look forward to sharing more good news in the year ahead made possible by the collective generosity of people like you.

Sincerely and on behalf of the Junior League Board of Directors,
