In 2013, the Junior League of Reading began to shift our focus from multiple direct programming projects to more of an issue-based community impact initiative. Through our “advocacy committee,” we searched for thought provoking films that would provide the perfect platform to raise awareness of some key issues surrounding our local and global communities. Over the past 10 years, we’ve been able to spark diverse conversation through films that highlighted teen issues, digital awareness, women empowerment, and the ability to overcome adversity.
