The Junior League got their GAME ON!
The Junior League of Reading, PA, Inc. is working hard in the community this season. In 2015, the League has already affected the lives of more than 200 young people in our community through its Young Women’s Summit and Service Learning Groups. The Junior League is working hard to improve the self-esteem and confidence of our community’s young women and men through it’s Youth Empowered initiative.
Check out our statistics below. Heading into the end of 2015, we are ramping up our plans for our Young Women’s Summit 2016, as well as planning our discussion and film series. Look for our events coming up soon. You’ll see we really are knocking it out of the park!
2015 Team Stats:
130+ at-risk young women have participated in our summit over the past four years
35 young women from our summit traveled to the capitol as a guest of Senator Schwank to participate in senate session in the last two years
97% of our Young Women’s Summit participants reported learning something new about leadership
25 separate community projects have been completed by our Young Women’s Summit participants and Service Learning Club participants
619 combined volunteer hours have been accumulated by our Service Learning Groups
150 girls participating in Girls on the Run Berks have been provided full scholarships from JLR’s sponsorship
250 community members have attended our documentary screenings of Miss Representation, Girl Rising, Half the Sky and contributing to the discussion of cultural and socioeconomic barriers for young women
100s of community members have been positively affected through our volunteer work at Glenside Elementary, Olivets Boys and Girls Club, Opportunity House and more!
